Rangiwahia Notes.
(FROM A CORRESPONDENT.) On Saturday evening last Mr H. Stokes' camp on Te Para Para road was completely destroyed by fire. Mr Stokes and his sen went out eeling early in the evening, a little distance from the camp, when they heard repeated gunshot reports. They at once returned, to find their camp and its contents totally destroyed by fire. Mr Stokes had just arrived in the district, and contemplated bringing in his family within a few days. He will lose about £20 in value (including £A in cash]) by the fire, and much sympathy is felt for him. On Saturday last a cricket match was played between teams representing Curl's Clearing and Rangiwahia, with the following result : - Bangiwahia, first innings — J. The Apiti minstrel troupe, who gave an entertainment here recently, have most generously handed over the net profits to the 1..0. G.T. Lodge, who have received the saane with many thanks. The cricketers ball, which was held on Friday evening last, was well attended. The refreshments were under the careful supervision of Mrs Temperly, who per formed her duties with skill. The re freebments were generously given by Bottlers, to whom the committee desire to return (heir thanks. Tha duties of M.C. were divided between Messrs Stansell and Saywell. The following gentlemen (from Birmingham) supplied the music, namely Messrs Barlow Bros, Fanthorpe and Chnnn. Mr A. Morgan had the misfortune to loose a valuable hack recently, it having got into a creek, and was not found until dead. The 1.0. G.T. held a meeting on Saturday evening, there being a fair attendance of members. Several songs and recitations were given by members and Bro Adaznaon reported oogbis visit to the District Lodge meeting and convention at Palmerston.
