The Waverley Hotel Case.

THE REMOVAL GRANTED. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, Deo 9. The Licensing Court; was occupied all the afternoon in hearing evidence and argument in the application of Mr Gleeson, licensee of the Waverley Hotel, situated at the northern end of Lambton Quay, for the removal of the license to Newton. The application was strongly opposed by the Temperance Party, Newtown School Committee, and others. The Committee, after an hour's deliberation, agreed to the removal, which will take effect almost immediately. The question was one which had created a good deal of interest lately, and led to considerable controversy in the newspapers and several public meetings.
