A Thrilling Narrative.

, (Per Press Association). i Sydney, December 3. Details have been received of the , wreck at Delagoa Bay of the Norweigan \ steel barque Breidahk, which struck a : rock and capsized during a storm. 1 Three seamen were drowned, and the survivors escaped in the boats only parj tially clothed, and with very little food. They made a voyage of seventy five miles amid great hardships and landed i on a dreary part of the coast. They f made a march of nearly one hundred . miles to a native settlement, where they were not hospitably treated, and they i went back again to the coast. They i then communicated with the Portugese Government at Delagoa, who sent a steamer and rescued them. In the ' meantime volunteer crews from the steamers Oscar II and Olive Branch, ly--1 ing at Delagoa, started in boats to res--1 cue them. After an exciting voyage up the river and a long tramp through un- ' known country, during which they were several times fired upon, they reached the settlements where the castaways were supposed to be located, and found i they had left. They started for the s coast almost naked and worn out for the ; want of food and had to march ninetyi live miles back to the boats, through ■ rough and swampy ground. They were i persecuted by the natives and their ; sufferings were so severe that all but two gave up. They reached Delagoa , whence assistance was sent to the dis- , tressed companions, who were brought to the coast.
