Dunedin, Dec. 2. At an informal meeting of stewards after the Farewell Handicap on Saturday the matter of the Clerk of the Course banding the jockey of Hippomenes (Pine) the lead bag, dropped after passing the post, was discussed. As no protest was entered, the totalisator was ordered to pay oat, but it was decided not to pay over the stakes until the matter had been decided by a full meeting of stewards.

Auckland, Dec 2. A jockey named F. Say, while schooling the jumper Sepoy over hurdles at Elierslie to-day, was thrown violently, and had his spine fractured. His re- * covery is doubtful. He is paralysed below the waist. ;
