THE POSTAL DEPARTMENT.

m The action of the Minister in charge of the Post and Telegraph Department in altering the system of delayed telegrams appears to have drawn much public attention thereto. " Friends and foes alike of the Government have pointed out tbe folly of taking a retrograde step. The Standard of this morning, in a scathing article dealing with the subject, says : " We do not disguise for one moment our belief that the postal and telegraph service is not receiving that attention from the Minister in charge that its importance merits, and that the interests of the public are being sacrificed to officialism. Wo do not think that such a state of things will be tolerated for very long, for although the public is notoriously long-suffering there is always a limit to its endurance."
