Delayed Telegrams.

(Per Press Association.) Wellington, November 29. In Dnnedin, the Hon. Mr Ward, replying to a deputation respecting the matter of delayed telegrams, said the cause ot the departure was the increase of work in certain parts of the colony, the boom in the mining industry. There had been a block in several parts of the colony. It was necessary to have one system for the whole colony, therefore he could not promise to revert to the old system in places where a block had not occurred, but promised to review the whole system of telegraphing. He said he hoped shortly to be able to introduce cheaper telegrams altogether — sixpenny telegrams, with perhaps a reduced number of words. He was now making enquiries and hoped to be able to announce the result shortly.
