' O *--■■» I Per Press Association! Melbourne, Nov. 28. The Audit Commissioner's annual report shows that during five financial years, from 1890 to 1895 inclusive, the expenditure of the colony was in excess ot revenue to the aggregate amount of £'3,220,000. This was reduced by a surplus of £578,000 from the year 1889, and realised by tbe sale of Treasury bonds, but the latter was only.a temp- ' orary provision, and the actual deficiency ■ to be made good is £2,640,000.
