Treachery and Murder.
(Per Press Association.) Thursday Island, This Day. News by mail states 23 Manilla soldiers recently deserted from the military station . A Spanish gunboat was sent after them, and found them in British North Borneo, aud after decoying them on to the beach ruthlessly fired into them. Of those that were left many were slaughtered in the waters The account of the affair concludes thus*— " So ended an expedition which for disgraceful treachery and butchery it would be difficult to find a parallel of in contemporary: history. ' ' ! "•'
