The Wool Market.

(Per Press Association.) Christchurgh, Novr. 22 The first wool sales of the season was opened this morning aud continued till late this evening. There was a full attendance of buyers, but there was do spirit in the bitfding- A fair proportion of the wool was sold, and considering the somewhat unsteady position oi the ■ world's chief wool markets aud extremely bad condition of the bulk of the clip, the prices obtained must be considered satisfactory, though not so high as some of the growers had been led to expect. The most noticeable feature of the sales was the demand for strong crossbreds and long wools, which sold at prices little below those of halfbreds of equal condition. There was also a fair demand for good merino wools, of which the quantity included in the catalogue was Hinall, about 10,000 bales offered. The prices current were: — Merino, medium to good 6d to 6:] d ; inferior, 4Jd to s!{d ; half-bred (superior), 8d to B id ; medium to good, 7d to 7ijd ; inferior 6d to 6fd ; crossbreds (superior), Bd to 8^1 ; medium bo good 7d to r r}d; inferior 6d to 6jjd ; wool (superior), 7-Jd to 8«d ; medium to good 7d to 7t\cl ; inferior, 6d to (v}d ; crossbreds (pieces and bellies) good 5d to 7d ; do. locks 2d to 3J-d. Sydney, November 21. At the wool sales a parcel of choice hogget greasy was sold at ll^d, the highest price for thu last four years. Excepting in special lines greasy wool is of a slightly easier. hrcourccls arc iv better demand and the recent rise is fully maintained.
