(Per Press Association). Christchurch, Nov. 17. It is stated in certain circles that either Mr A. E. G. Rhodes or Mr G. T. Booth will be nominated by the National Association to contest the Christchurch seat in the event of the Hon. Mr P. Reeves accepting the Agent Generalship. Mr Murphy, secretary of the Agricultural and Pastoral Association, is at present communicating with several exhibitors at the recent show respecting an experimental shipment of live stock to England. So far all have not replied, but it is expected that early next year a ship* ment will be despatched. It is understood that instructions have been given by the Audit Department to take proceedings to recoyer the amount overcharged on account of the expenses of certain members of the Hospital Board wbo visited Wellington last year to interview the Government in connection with the erection of a new wing and also the expenses of the visits of inspection to the Akaroa Hospital. Wellington, Novr. 15. The following gentlemen have been appointed to act as census enumerators for tbe following counties : — Wm. C. Nation, Horowhenua and Manawatu ; Robt. N. Keeling, Oroua, Kiwitea and Pohangina : E. Barnes, Wanganui, Rangitikei and Waitotara; S. H. James, Hawera, Patea and Stratford ; John H. M. Good, Taranaki and Clifton. This Day. The lonic, from London via usual way, ports, arrived this morning. Dunedin, Nov. 14. A man named Thomas Monaghan was drowned yesterday off Inchclutha. Invercargill, Nov. 17. A man named Meldrum died at Otautau yesterday from injuries received by being- thrown from a horse on Thursday while racing on a public road. Auckland, Nov. 15. The Auckland Technical School has received £357, balance of the Taranaki war relief fund. Napier, Nov. 18. John Francis Osher met a violent death on Saturday night by falling into a hot spring at Tokaanu. Deceased was an old settler. Hokitika, Nov. 17. Mrs Grimmond, wife of Joseph Grimmond, county chairman and ex-M.H.R., for Hokitika, died at Ross early this morning. ___________
