The Governor's Visit to Feilding.

A special meeting of the Feilding Borough Council was held last evening to consider what steps should be adopted to receive His Excellency the Governor on his visit to Feilding on Monday next, < the 18th instant. Present —The Mayor ' (Mr W.,A. Sandilands), Crs Allan, Gonld, Bailey, Worsfold, Goodbehere, Shearer, Say well, and Fowles. Proposed by Cr Goodbehere, seconded by Cr Bailey, That an address be presented to His Excellency the Governor ' on bis arrival in Feilding on Monday next ; that such an address be presented publicly in the Assembly Rooms, if time will permit, and if not at the railway station ; and that Captain Kir ton, of tbe Manchester Rifles, be asked to 1 provide a guard of honour. — Carried. Proposed by Cr Saywell, seconded by Cr Fowles, That the Mayor, Crs Goodbehere, Allan, and Bailey' be a committee to draw up|an address to be presented 1 to tbe Governor on his arrival at Feilding on Monday next.— Carried. Proposed by Cr Goodbebere, seconded J by Cr Bailey, That the Mayor, Crs Saywell, Fowles, Worsfold, and Shearer, be | a committee to arrange necessary deco- ' decorations at tbe railway station. — L Carried. In reference to the above Captain Kirton wired to Lieut.-Col. Newatl on 1 the subject, and was informed by the 1 latter that His Excellency does not expect to be received with a Guard of Honor when paying visits of this kind.
