♦ The first local championship matches of the season were played on Saturday last. Birmingham and Carnarvon met at Feilding, and the game resulted in a decisive win for tbe former. Birmingham making 106 in the first, and retired in tbe second innings with five wickets down for 132, while Carnarvon made 47 in their first, and had five wickets down for about 30 in their second innngis when stumps were drawn. Afternoon tea was supplied by Mesdames Lethbridge and Sorley and was much appreciated by the players.
