At the Presbyterian Synod yesterday a motion to delay the operation of the resolution with reference to marriage with a deceased wife's sister was declared incompetent. At the Anglican Synod, it was resolved, " That in the opinion of this Synod it is desirable that the Education Ant should be so amended as to provide for religious instruction in schools on the plan embodied in the Education Act of New South Wales. The motion was carried on the voices, after an amendmeat bad been negatived. Invercarghx, Nov. 7. Mr Austin Mclnerney, licensee of the Railway Hotel, Winton. died suddenly in Invercargill today. He leaves a large family. Auckland, November 7. Hon E. Blake, arbitrator in the Midland Railway dispute, leaves for the South on Saturday. Full details of the death of Major Dane show that he died instantaneously of paralysis of the heart.
