Mclntyre was chosen leader to succeed Sir J. B. Patterson. At a meeting of the National Bank of Australasia the chairman said since 1893 the liabilities had been reduced by £3,040,000. There were signs of returning prosperity, and the directors hoped soon to be able to pay a dividend to ordinary shareholders.
