Proposed Annexation of New Hebrides.

| Per Press Association.] Dunedin, Novr. 5. The Presbyterian Synod of Otago and Southland held its annual missionary meeting last night. The report stated, with reference to the New Hebrides mission, that out of a population of little more than 2000 on the five islands under Mr Milne's care 800 are in full commun ication with the Church, and last year 85 were received. Mr and Mrs Mitchelson have also succeeded in Christianising the islands under their charge, teachers and schools have been established in each village. The hope was expressed that the British and Australasian authorities would strenuously and successfully resist the aggressive action of the French Government with reference to the work. The Rev Mr Small, who was present from the New Hebrides, commended to the consideration of the Church, Dr Lamb's hospital and training college.
