TTANDSOME JACK B^^^HvJ SOL met with an accihas prevented him being raced. He was very highly thought of and tried to be a horse of great promise. This handsome colt is well worth inspection oi breeders, and such a (remarkable chance is seldom offered to them. It is worth bringing the attention oi breeders to his tabulated pedigree, and would point ont that the'imported fightlight is the g. grandam of St. Hippo, that Niglitlight visited Fireworks, and begat Lamona, who in turn vilited Bob" inson Crusoe and begat Hippona. dam oi St. Hippo, so that Handsome Jack claims to be bred on the same line, and with the only addition of Maribyrnong hid blood and breeding are identical. Also, that Sunshine visited Robinson Crusoe, and the result was Sextant, the fastest horse in all the colonies, and the present record for half a mile (47f sec) was estab* iished by Mm as a two-year-old in Christ* church, 1386. The same season Sextant won Christchurch Challenge Stakes, carrying 7.4, beating Maxim 7.9, Fail Nell, Syru, 7.U. Sextant was then sold to G. G. Stead, Esq., at a very high price, and in his cojonra won the following clastio races daring 1888: ; Great Northern Derby (Auokland), Hawke's Bay 8t Leger and Auckland St Leger. Badiant never raped. She is full sister to Utopia, Cruiser, and Quadrant, and half sister to Palliser: Her first foal, Lustre, has won, several rices, ami is fall brother to Handsttne Jack. Oaks, and is sister to Dagmar (winner, Maribyrnong Plata), half sister to 'Lantern (winner T.B.C Derby and Melbsnrne Cup), also to Bade Light and My Dream (winner V.8.0 Oaks). 8t Ltger, sire of Handsome Jack, is now standing at a fee of 80 guineas, and is at tht head of winning stallions for season 1893, his stock winning L&260. St Legsr*s sire,' Donoaster, was sold in England for L 14.000. Bobwran£rasof> and Onyx are fall brother and sister, and Onyx is dam of Nordenfpldt. Stoekjgot by Handsome Jack in Auckland show a great deal of quality. 'Handsome Jack stands 16 hands 2f 1 inches, and oomes from a great family, and his rae (5 guineas) is r9iy moderate for thdioogbbrel mares.
