Additions are made to the entries for Messrs Abraham and Williams sale at Palmerston. The medical department of the Queen's household costs i' 2,700 yearly, and comprises 24 persons. A covey of crested quail visited Feilding this morning aud had a good time in the garden of Mr J. H. Stevens, postmaster. The Oddfellows' social will be held in the Foresters' Hall this evening. Association and tickets for the Caledonian Society's sports in November. Says a Napier paper : — A curious coincidence occurred at the Waikopero ballot. Had they not been contiguous the Act would have barred their marriage for a year at least, but under the circumstances they are at liberty to get married as soon as they like. On Sunday evening next mission services .will be commenced in St Bridget's Church, Feilding, by His Grace Archbishop Redwood, and will be continued until Wednesday morning. Mass will be held every morning at 8 and 9 o'clock during the mission and sermons will be preached by His Grace Archbishop on Monday and Tuesday evenings at 7.30. To-day's Chronicle says:—Ourßangigitikei friends are already anticipating the next general election,' and a correspondent informs us that it is probable that either Mr J. A. Beach, Mr John Johnston, or Mr A. E. Remington, will contest that scat in the Liberal interest against Mr F. Y. Lethbridge. Mr John Stevens, it is rumoured, intends to contest Otaki against Mr Wilson. While the Wellington-Manawatu train on Saturday night was passing through one of the tunnels on the line; Mr Callott, an extra clerk in the Government Buildings, who was a passenger, by some means lost his balance, and fell from the train.
