Pohangina Notes.

The adjourned meeting of ratepayers to form a Ratepayers' Association wat held in the Public Hall on Saturday, Mr J. Q. Browne presided. The following comroitttee were elected : —Coal Creek Riding, Mr Curtis (secend member not elected) ; Awabou, Mesßra Arbackle and Lynch ; Tamaki, Messrs T. Hirat andJ. Q- Browne; Pohangina, Messrs O.Wildbore and J. McKenzie; Mangabne, Messrs T. Sinclair and E. Harrison; Maiigapikopiko, left vacant; Uiimtoi, Messrs J. Shadbolt and W. Holmes. Mr J. G. Browne was elected chairman and Mr Baylis secretary, Mr Arbuokle drew attention to certain rumours as to work done by Mr Hayns' son being paid for,afc the rate of 10s a day when 7s was a fair 'rate of pay. It was decided to enquire whether Mr Hayns had employed Mr Haghey to supervise work that Mr Hayns was employed by the Council to do. On the motion of Mr Arbuckle, it was decided to ask the Council to submit a balance-sheet to the ratepayers every six months. It was further resolved— (l) That the Council be requested at the termination of Mr Hayns' present engagement to appoint a resident engineer and clerk ; the Council not to provide a residence. . (2) That enquiries be made as to the reason for refusing to pay Mr McKenzie for bnshfelling on Cemetery Reserve. (3) That Cr Selby be requested to draw up proposals for loan for the Pohangina riding. — Standard.
