FLEMINGTON NOTES.
(Per Press Association.) Melbourne, October 21. This was an off morning at Flemington. Chesterman looked ■well after his Cup go, and the Flemington touts were greatly pleased at the style he finished in the Cup. Waterfall and Delaware looked blooming. Though there is no betting, Waterfall is equal favorite with Wallace for the Derby at 2 to 1, and Quiyer has advanced to 100 to 6 for tiie Cup. Much indignation is felt about Hova for being kept in till ten minutes to 11 on Saturday morning. The Age, in a trenchant article thereon, says that Abe Davis, part owner, states that the horse was never better in his life, but luck was so phenomenally bad at Caulfield, that he scratched the horse in deference to the opinions of others interested in him. R. Grice, the reputed principal owner, says he has nothing to do with the control of the horse. Havoc is suffering from a split hoofLater. Scratchings for all engagements at the V.R.C. Meeting:—Grenadier, Atlas and Aureus. For the Melbourne Cup — Ruenalf, Perseus, Eiridsforde, Glittering, Gem and Crest. There was a fair amount of wagering during the day. Wallace was again installed favorite for the blue ribbon at 7 to 4 ; 2 to 1 offered against Waterfall, 4 to 1 Auraria. Consequent on the defeat on Saturday of Hopscotch he has receded to 100 to 7 for the Melbourne Cup, for which Delaware has been freely backed at 100 to 10. 5000 to 350 was taken about Hova. Over 4000 has been secured about Trenchant at 100 to 7. Watertall. Wallace and Quiver are meeting with support at the same price. Bruin has been knocked back to 100 to 2, which is on offer. Elswick found favor at 100 to 5.
