| (Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 18. Tho Council met at 2*Bo. '! hf Government Advances to Settlers .Act Amendment Bill w«8 read a second tiuif on the voices. The motion for the second rending of the Rating on Unimproved Value Bill was loßt by 15 So 14 and the Bill thrown out. Following is the divisiou list : —Ayes : Hons. Baillie, Whitmore,Barnicoat,Kerr, Kelly, Rigg, Jennings, Jenkinson, Taiaroa, Folkwick, MacGregor, McCullough, Mont, gomery, Buckley. Noes: Hons. Reynolds, Richardson, Bonar, Swanson, Pharazyn, Williams, Morris, Acland. Stevens, Orinond, McLean, Johnston, Grace, Holmes, Peacock. The Council insisted on its amendments in the Alcoholic Liquors Bill. The Bank agreement as to purchase of the Colonial Bank by the Bank of New Zealand was laid on the table by Hon. ; Sir P. Buckley, Hons. Kelly, Stevens, Pbartvzjn, and j Ormond were appointed managers at a conference with the House to discuss the Council's amendments to the Alcoholic Liquors Bill. I
