To stand this season in the FEILDING and KIWITEA Districts, the Thoroughbred Stallion, HANDSOME JACK (foaled 1890). Bred at Sylvia Park. M^ mm^Kk TTANDSOME JACK B^^QHwJ I I met with an acciwhich has prevented him being raced. He was very highly thought of and tried to be a horse of great promise. This handsome colt is well worth inspection of breeders, and such a .remarkable chance is seldom offered to them. It is worth bringing the attention of breeders to his tabulated pedigree, and would point out that the imported IS ightlight ii the g. grandam of St. Hippo, that Nightlight visited Fireworks, and begat Lamona, who in turn visited Hob* inson Crusoe and begat Hippona, dam of St. Hippo, so that Handsome Jack claims to be bred on the same line, and with the only addition of Maribyrnong his blood aud breeding are identical. Also, that Sunshine visited Bobinson Crusoe, and the result was Sextant, the fastest horse in all the colonies, and the present record for half a mile (47f sec) was established by him as a two-year-old in Christ* church, 1886 The same season Sextant won Christchnrch Challenge Stakes, carrying 7.4, beating Maxim 79, Fair Nell, 3yrs, 7.11. Sextant was then sold to G. G. Stead, Esq., at a very high price, and in his colours won the follow* ing classic races during 1888 : Great Northern Derby (Auokland), Hawke's Bay St Leger and Auckland St Leger. Badiant never raced. She is full sister to Utopia, Cruiser, and Quadrant, and half sister to Falliser. Her first foal, Lustre, has won several races, and is fall brother to Handsome Jack. Sunshine, the grandam tof Badiant, iron the V-R.C Oaks, and is sister to Dagmar (winner Maribyrnong Plate), half Rister to Lantern (winner V.B.C Derby and Melbourne Cnp), also to Bude Light and My Dream (winner V.B.C Oaks). St Leger, sire of Handsome Jack, is now standing at a fee of 30 guineas* and is at the head of winning stallions for season 1893. his stock winning LS;2oQ. St Leger's sire, Doncaster, was sold in England for LU.OOO. Bobmson Crusoe and Onyx are full brother and sister, and Onyx is dan of ffordenfeldt. Stock got by Handsome Jack in Auck* land show a great deal of quality. Handsome Jack stands 15 hands 2f inches, and comes from a great family, md his fee (5 guineas) is rery moderate F or thoroughbred mares./ Half-bred nares and ponies taken At a ,reMopable •eduction. Limited to 25 marcs. , Inspection solicited. Gracing free for >ne month, after that Is 6d per week. 11l care taken, but no responsibility, For further particulars apply to W, P. UoBMTBi KiwitM ,
