To stand this season in the FEILDING and KIWITEA Districts, the Thoroughbred Stallion, HANDSOME JACK (foaled 1890). Bred at Sylvia Park, TTANDSOME JACK ■|^^^HnJ iX met with an aeciwhich has prevented him being raced. He was very highly thought of and tried to be a horse of great promise. This handsome colt is well worth inspection of breeders, and such a (remarkable chance is seldom offered to them. It is worth bringing the attention of breeders to his tabulated pedigree, and would point out that the imported JN ightlight i* the g. grandam of St. Hippo, that NigbtJight visited Fireworkt» and begat Lamona, who in turn visited Bob* inson Crusoe and begat Hippona, dam of St. Hippo, so that Handsome Jaok claim* to be bred on the same line, and with the only addition of Maribyrnong hi« blood aud breeding are identical. Also, that Sunshine visited Bobinson Crusoe, and the result was Sextant, the fastest horse in all the colonies, and the present record for half a mile (47£ sec) was established by him as a two-year-old in Christ* church, 1886. The same season Sextant won Christchurch Challenge Stakes, carrying 7.4, beating Maxim 7.9, Fair Nell, 3yrs, 7.11. Sextant was then sold to G. G. Stead, Esq., at a very high price, and in his colours won the follow* ing classic races during 1888 : Great Northern Derby (Auckland), Hawk* 's Bay St Leger and Auckland St Leger. Badtant never raced. Bhe is foil sister to Utopia, Cruiser, and Quadrant, and half sister to Palliser. Her firtt foal, Lustre, haa won several races, and is full brother to Handsome Jack. // , :r Sunshine, the grandam fof Badiant, won the V«B.C. Oaks, and is sister to Dagmar ( winner Mari by rnong Plate), half sister to Lantern (winner V.B.C Derby and Melb©urne Cup), ahw to 7 Bude Light: and Mj Dream (winner T.B.C Oaks).
