The Court sanctioned the scheme for the reduction of interest on the deposits of the Haymarket Permanent Company from five to three per cent. The Premier gave notice of the Federal Enabling Bill today. Silver is slightly weaker. Adelaide, October 16. The Assembly passed a Bill through all .stages transferring the incription of stock from Glyn, Mills and Co. to the Agent-General. Melbourne, Oct. 16 The Tariff Bill has been amended by making 25 per cent, duty on woollen goods come iato operation in January, 1898, instead of 1897. Mr Walter Miles, aged 31, son of Mr Edward Miles, chief clerk in the Victorian Racing Club office, died yesterday, after a few days illness from influenza.
