To stand this season in the FEILDING and KIWITEA Districts, the Thoroughbred Stallion, HANDSOME JACK (foaled 1890). Bred at Sylvia Park. TXANDSOME JACK ■|^^^HrJ ,11 met with an acci*^^^^P|[Th^ which has prevented him being raced. Be was very highly thought of and tried to be a horse of great promise. This handsome colt is well worth inspection of breeders, and such a {remarkable chance is seldom offered to them. It is worth bringing the attention of breeders to his tabulated pedigree, and would point oat that the imported INigbtlight is the g. grandam of St. Hippo, that Nightlight visited Fireworks, and begat Lamona, who in turn visited ftob* inson Crusoe and begat Hippona, dam of St. Hippo, so that Handsome Jack claims to be bred on the same line, and with the only addition of Maribyrnong bin blood and breeding are identical. Also, that Sunshine visited Eobinson Crusoe, and the result was Sextant, the fastest horse in all the colonies, and the present record for half a mile (47fsec) was established by him as a two-year-old in Christ* church, 1886- The same season Sextant won Christchurch Challenge Stakes, carrying 7.4, beating Maxim 7.9, Fair Nell, 3yrs, 7.11. Sextant was then sold to G. G. Stead, Esq., at n very high price, and in bis colours won the following classic races during 1888 : Great Northern Derby (Auckland), Hawke's Bay St Leger and Auckland St Leger. Badiant never raced. She is fall sister to Utopia, Cruiser, and Quadrant, and half sister to Palliser. Her first foal, Lustre, has won several races, and is full brother to Handsome Jack. Sunshine, the grandam fof Badiant, won the Y*B.C. Oaks, and is sister to Dagmar (winner Maribyrnong Plate j, half sister to Lantern (winner V.B.C Derby and Melbourne Cup), also to Bude 1 Light and My Dream (winner V.E.C Oaks), St Leger, sire of Handsome Jack, is now standing at a fee of 30 guineas* and is at the head of winning stallions for season 1893. his atook winning L 5.250. St Leger's sire, Doncatter, was sold in England for L 14.000. Bobmson Crusoe and Onyx- are full brother and sister, and Onyx is dam of Nordenfeldt. Stock gotby. Handsome Jack in Auckland show a great deal .of quality. 7 Handsome Jack stands 15 hands 2f inches, and comes from % great family, and iiis fee (5 guineas)' is very moderate for* thoroughbred mares. , t Half-bred Blares and ponies taken at v a reasonable reduction. * Limited to 26 mar«s. ,_\ 1 Inspection' solicited.
