Social and Concert at Rangiwahia.
[fhom oue own cokeespondent. i Last Saturday evening a social and concert was held in the school room, under the auspices of the 1.0. G.T. Lodge, the building being packed throughout. The Lodge has only lately been organised, and this entertainment is the first production of that Order. Bro. W. Bloomfield, of Feilding, acted as Chairman. Mesdames Moffatt, Milward and Handcock, generously provided substantial refreshments, while tbe following persons contributed towards the programme : — Bro. Theobald, recitation, " Jack and his hard lamp ;" Bro. McEean, an ably riven address on " The liquor traffic ;" Sister M. Moffatt, recitation, " Write them a letter to-night ;" Bro. Millward, song, " How Paddy stole the rope," and " Take me home " as an encore ; Master P. Moffatt, recitations, " Decorate (?) of hearts " and "The tailor and the cobbler ;" Bro. A. Hickford, in nigger costume, gave a lecture on " Woman's rights," and, also, a nigger song, " Yaller dine ;" Mrs Handcock, reading, " The Mortgage ;" Mrs Henderson, song, " The picture turned towards the wall," and "I roamed afar the wild world " as an encore ; Sister Moffatt, reading, " Simond Walle's housekeeping ;" Mr Bonnar, song, •• Mother's picture," and " The little chickens in the garden "as an encore ; Sister E. Moffatt, recitation, " I'll take what father takes ;'.'. Bros. A. Hickford and T. McEean, a nigger dialogue, " Definition of a 'bus/ The entertainment concluded after a very hearty vote of thanks had been accorded to all who bad assisted to make the gathering the success it was. Bro. Hickford, in the coarse of the' evening, referred in glowing terms 'to the services' of the present C.T., 'Bro. McFanagan, who had done all lie could' to assist the temperance cause, and as he (the C.T.) was about 'to fe'ave' ih'fl district he would asjt tlie meeting |o carry by acclamation a hearty vpte of; thanks to that person' for bis assistance. Bro. McFanagan, in reply, said, he bad. only done what he though^ was his diity, and the duty pf aU men, and that ft wpuld always be a pleasure to help on, the temperance : pause at all times,. Be sipcerely trusted that this Lodge nrould prpsper. The entertainment over, tbe young people freely indulged., iv lancing until midnigbt. "Mr Q- Connor supplied the music, aud Mr J.
