Napier, This Day. There is splendid weather for the opening day of the Napier Park Racing Club's Spring Meeting. Good attendance. Results : — Trial Hurdles— Zaccho 1, Mozel 2, Nightshade 3. All started but Waterlily. Won by a couple of lengths. Time, 2min 57 3 ssec. Dividend, £3 6s. Criterion Stakes — Blarney 1, Aphony 2, Martyrdom 3. All started. Won by a length. Time, lmia 47 2-ssec. Dividend, £2 Is. MORE TOTALISATOR PERMITS WANTED. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, This Day. A deputation, representing the Trotting Club, waited on the Colonial Secretary this morning urging that an increased number of totalisator permits be allowed to troting clubs. Sir P. Buckley expressed himself dissatisfied with the Act, and would like to see it repealed. He said he had completed arrangements re licenses for the present season, and therefore declined the request of the deputation.
