TRAINING NOTES.
Melbourne, October 13. At Flemington yesterday Lord Richmond and Royal Master galloped a mile and a half in 2min 44sec. At Caulfield Bonnie Scotland traversed a mile and a quarter in 2min 19Jsec. The Caulfield touts are enamoured with Trenchant's chance in the Caulfield Cup. Robert Howie considers that his son Charles ruined Ayrshire's chance in the Caulfield Stakes by taking him to the front too soon.
London, October 11. At the Newmarket Meeting, the Middle Park Plate resulted : — Saint Frusguin 1, Omaladina 2, Persimmon 3. Auckland, October 12. At tne Avondale Races, Absolum, the jockey, was thrown in the Steeplechase and sustained slight concussion of the brain. Jas. Gallagher, rider of Cuirass in the Nursery Handicap, who was injured by the horse running into a rail, got his right leg broken above the knee, anil was badly cut about the head. This Day. The injuries to the jockey Gallagher are not so serious as at first thought. He is progressing well.
