LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, October 10. -•' The Council met at 2.30. Without further debate Hon Bigg's motion that in the opinion of the Council the Chinese are undesirable immigrants was negatived by 18 to 8. The Alcoholic Liquors Bill was further considered in committee. Clauses 24 to 25, relating to clubs were struck oat. Clause 26, providing that no railway refreshment room licenses are to be granted in any districts where prohibition is carried, was retained on the voices. la clause 27, " Costs of election and administration to be paid by local authorities," several amendments were negatived and the clause passed unaltered. At 5 p.m. the Council adjourned till 7.30 p.m. The Alcoholic Liquor Bill was further considered in committee and progress was reported.
