Hospital Board.
The ordinary monthly meeting was held yesterday. Present-Messrs Ravenhill (chairman), Goodbehere, Ransome, Taylor, Park, Kendall, Lethbridge. Correspondence was read and dealt with as follows:— ; From Mrs Cooke, Feilding, asking that her hnsband be re-admitted to the hospital.— Left in the hands of Mr Goodbehere to attend to. From Miss F. Watkins, Feilding, applying for appointment on hospital staff. From Dr McGregor, stating that it was impossible for each contributing body to have a representative on the Board, as* according to the Act the representation had to be adjusted on the contributions of the various bodies and the population of tbe district. He had fixed the representation as follows:— Palmerston Borough Council 2 ; Manawatu County Council, 2; Fifczherbert and Manawatu Road Boards, 2 ; lending Borough Council, Halcombe Town Board and Foxton Borough Council, 1 ; Eiwitea and Pohangina Couaty Councils, 1 ; Manchester Road Board, 2. From the Mayor of Feilding, fo* wa f d : ing cheque for £41 9s, amount collected for unemployed relief work— lt was decided to hand the money, with subsidy thereon, to the Feilding Borough CounCil, to be spent for the relief of the un • ployed. Mr E. Goodbehere to act with the Borough Council. From Mr Purkiss. of the Halcombe Town Board, and Mr Gibson, of the Foxton Borough, giving pa^culars with regard to the cases of Mrs Millard and MrsFraser. , . . It was decided to ask the Colonial Bank to extend the time for payment of the Board's overdraft till the end of the financial year. Mr Taylor reiterated the opinion expressed at a previous meeting that those patients who were able to pay the full cost of keeping them in the hospital should do so. The actual cost was 32s per week, while the fixed charge was 24s 6d. ' , , It was pointed out that in calculating the cost per patient the money expended in alterations and improvements to the building, surgical instruments, &c, was taken into consideration. It was a yearly average struck on the whole of the expenditure. At the suggestion of Mr Lethbndge, the Secretary was instructed to go to Feilding to enquire into the circumstances of the almoners of the Manchester Road Board.— Standard.
