Fire at Christchurch.

(Per Press Association.) Christohurch, October 4. A fire at M. Harris and Sons' ware house was extinguished after doing damage estimated at about L4OOO. More damage was done by water than fire. Insurances : — Building, L 1250 in South British ; stock, L 950 in South British, L 1250 in Alliance, LISOO in Commercial Union, L 1450 m Liverpool, London and Globe ; LIOOO in Norwish Union ; LIOOO in New Zealand|; L 750 in Guardian ; L 750 in North British and Mercantile ; L7OO in Standard ; L 750 in Snn ; LSOO each in the Victoria and North German. The fire broke out when the premises were closed during luncheon hour, and its origin is not known.
