Bolt that the evident taken before the Public Petitions Coiu:nHtee relative to the Chinese question be printed caused some discussion. Several members objected to thd publication of the evidence as be log sensational, while others orged its publication for that very reason. Ultimately the motion was lost by one vote. Hon. Rigg then gave notice to move that in the opinion of the Council Chinese are undesirable immigrants. The Chattels Transfer Act Amendment Bill and Magazine Bill were read a second time. The Council went into Committee on the Alcoholic Liquors Bill, but after the short title had been passed progress was reported till Tuesday. The Coal Mines Act Amendment Bill and Public Domains Act Amendment Bill were put through their final stages. | The Council then adjourned till Tuesday.
