Post and Telegraph Department.

The annual report of the PostmasterGeneral upon the Post and Telegraph Department states that the revenue from this department of the public service showed a fairly satisfactory increase, although the telegraph receipts fell short of the estimate. The revenue totalled £357,---449 14s 9d, and the expenditure £299,971 Is 4d, leaving a credit balance of £57,478 13s sd. During the year 222,678 money orders valued at L 776.783 4s lid were issued, and 174,810 orders amounting to L 678.556 Is were paid, while 310,360 postal notes were sold an increase of 33,255 in number, and L 11.995 in amount over 1893. The deposits in the Post Office Savings Bank amounted to L 2,252,562 6s lid, and the withdrawal* to L 2,268,624 83 4d, Tbe the total sum standing to iho credit of depositors on December 3 1st, .2894, wag L3 t 34'i,579 11s^d,a3 against L 3,241,998 7a 10d at the end of 1893.
