Breaches of the Licensing Act.
(Per Press Association.) Christchurch, October 2. In the two cases of alleged Sunday trading heard in the Magistrate's Court yesterday Mr Beetham gave judgment to-day. In the case against C. KlingenBtein, of the Al Hotel, His Worship said it had been proved to his satisfaction that the person who had been supplied with the liquor was tbe defendant's invited guest, and went into the hotel on business, not for the purpose of procuring liquor. The case was dismissed. In the other case against James Kennedy, licensee of tbe Sandridge Hotel, whose defence was that he had " shouted " for the people fonnd on tbe premises, His Worship said he did not believe tbe evidence brought in support of the statement. He fined the defendant the maximum penalty, with endorsement of the license.
