THE DROUGHT BROKEN UP. (PER press' ASSOCIATION) Sydney, This Day. Splendid rains have fallen in the West, and the drought is apparently broken up. Heavy rain is falling in Sydney and along the coast. Melbourne, This Day. The Banks and the Insurance Companies tendered for the Metropolitan Board of Works' loan to the extent of £1,100,000, but only £71,000 was tendered for privatety, the bulk coming through the Stock Exchange. The Premier has fallen in with the views of the Premier of South Australia regarding the Conference in connection with the trade between Australia and Japan. Brisbane, This. Day. It is understood Mr Dicken, Secretary to the Agent-General has been appointed acting Agent-General.
