Stock Market.
. o — Matthew Henry reports of his Palmerston sale : The supplies of both sheep and cattle were up to the average cattle particularly being forward in full numbers. Trade ruled dull, particularly for young stock, except for odd lines, which commanded fair value. Iu conjunction with the ordinary stock sale, the show and sale of fat cattle was held. Very little interest was shown in the event, there being only two exhibitors, viz., Hon W. W. Johnston and Mr Manson, the latter gentleman gaining first and third prizes and Mr Johnston second, both for bullocks, which reflected credit upon their respective managers, Messrs Allan and Holmes. These cattle were well competed for, and sold at from £1 14s 6d to £8 3s. Cattle: Two-year steers, L3 4s ; 18-month to 2year cattle, L2 16s; yearling steers, L2 Qs : mixed yearlings, L2 ; weaners, 23s to 30s ; heifers in calf, L3 to L4 4s ; picked springing heifers, L4 ; forward cows, L3 11s ; store cows, L3. Sheep : Ewes, with lambs, 93 2d ; fat ewes, 9s 3d ; hoggets, 6s 6d to 7s 3d.
