Pohangina Notes.
| From Our Own Correspondent] It has been decided to hold a meeting here at an early date to take steps to have a school building erected near the post office at Palmers. There are twentythree children of school age in the locality. At present the school at Pohangina is considered top far off, as some of the scholars have to walk eight or nine miles a day to attend it. Besides the disadvantage of distance, the road is rough, and the youngsters are unnecessarily fatigued by the trip. If the residents gain their object the new school will attract a greater number of scholars than what I have mentioned. , Certainly the pioneer settlers in this part of the district are deserving of tho hearty assistance of the Education Board, because they are always so willing to help themselves. There is a very dangerous place on the Valley road, on that part of it known as the •'• Elbow Bend," which the Council ought to have mended. I would like our worthy engineer to have a look at it i before the road is taken away altogether.
