The Stock Market.
Messrs Abraham and Williams report : — There was a fair muster of stock at Pohangina on Wednesday. Operations were confined to local requirements which enabled the bulk to be cleared, and at prices much on par v/ith other markets. At Palmerston yesterday store cattle were in full numbers. A better demand existed for store bullocks, beef in fewer numbers maintained its value ; weaners sold more readily ; other sorts without alteration, and mostly everything sold. An average muster of sheep yarded. Excessive reserves prevented the disposal of a line of fat ewes— with this exception together with a line of hoggets, left nothing on vendors hands. Bidding improved as the sale progressed. Hoggets, 6s lid to 8s 3d ; fat ewes 12s to 12s 6d ; forward ewes, 9s 3d ; forward wethers, lls 9d ; fat bullocks, £6 9s to £7; 3yr-steers, j£4 15s to £4 16s 6d ; 2vr do, £2 15s to £3 ; empty cows, £3 2s 6d ; 18-months heifers, £2 5s to £2 7s; 2Jyr do, £3 2s 6d ; indifferent weaners and yearlings, 21s. Pigs bold briskly, porkers, 10s to 13s 9d : stores up to 9s.
