Wool in America.
With the near approach of shearing and the consequent series ot wool sales, the foUowing extract from the Exporters' and Importers' Journal (New York), of Aueustl7tb, should be of considerable interest to growers :— " The activity in wool noted in our last has been followed by dulness, but without any marked change of values. Operators do not look for much change in demand for a time, as manufacturers are pretty well supplied. The large purchase of Australians in London has not weakened our market, which is good evidence that stocks are well held. Australian, Monte Video, and Cape wools all appear to be atining in favor, and it is likely they will toa greater extent than ever before be used iustead of our territory wools. It may be interesting to know that the receipts of foreign wools at Boston from January lst to August 9tb, this year, have been 214,60 a bales, against 40,852 in 1894, an increase of 171,853 and 117,931 in 1893, during the same period. Market quotations may be stated as follows: -Port Phillips combing 20 to 24 cents per lb, Adelaide combinl 18 to 19 cents, New Zealaud clothinf 19 to 21 cents, tine cross-bred 22 to 24 cents, Cape clothing 18 5 to io cents, Cape combing 15* to 16*. cents, Monte Video primera 14| to lo cents, Monte Video secunda 13* to 14 cents.
