Laet week was an unlucky one for some of oar settlers, several valuable cows, the property of Mr purling, and MsSSie* Donald, having died from variousjjtftraes, Mr Durling was badly hurt by a ball. It appears Mr Durling was taking some green oats to a heifer which had just drop* ped a calf. The bull was in the same paddock and followed Mr Durling, .the latter chinking the bull merely warned some of the green oats gave the animate little which it consumed eagerly. Sr Darling gave the balance to the beifel. Suddenly the bull bounded towards Mr Dnrling, knocked him over and tpsse4 him about for several minutes. Luckily Mrs Darling witnessed the circumstances, and with great presence of imnd let loose their dog, which is discribed as a regular warrior amongst cattle, for his " heeling" powers. The dog exercised these powers with great good will, and rescued his master from his dangerous position. Three of the neighbors carried Mr Darling into his house, and on examination being ina^e. N ~* a Beveral ribs were found to be broken, ~an4 the whole body bruised and shake©. Mr Durling is now progressing favourably towards recovery.
