LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.
(Per Press Association.) Wellington, September 12. The Servants Registry Offices Bill passed its final stages. The Industrial Conciliation Act Amendment Bill was read a second time. The Public Petitions Committee could not recommend the granting of the prayer of the Catholics making it comsory lor a reduction of Boards to inspect their schools, considering examination of teachers necessary to success, and that it was to be imperative on Boards to inspect, managers of schools should not have the option of saying whether or not they would have their schools examined. With respect to granting Catholic schools financial aid they had no recommendation to make. The petition of Major Chas. Brown, Taranaki, who was struck off the Commission of the Peace for irregularities in native work, was referred to the Government for consideration. The Wages Attachment Abolition Bill was reported from Committee with amendments. Council adjourned at 3.30 p.m.
