LEGISLATIVE COUNCIL.

(Per Press Association.) The Council met at 2.30. In committee on tbe Servants Registry Offices Bill, a uew clause was added providing that if any licensed holders be convicted of any indictable offence his license shall ipso facto be deemed to i have been cancelled. i On tbe motion that the Council go into Committee on the Wages Attachment Abolition Bill, Hon. Pollen moved an amendment that the Bill be committed six months hence. The amendment was lest by 18 to 7. In Committee on the Bill the short title was altered to " The Wages Attachment Bill," and the proviso that it should be read with the Workmens Wages Act was struck out. New clauses were added to the effect that if the amount of wages exceeded at the rate of two pounds per week any surplus above tbat sum should be liable to attachment, and tbat the Act should not effect any order under the Destitute Persons Act. Progress was then reported and the Council adjourned.
