Wanganui Education Board.

The Board resumed at 10 a.m. yesterday. Present, Messrs Carson (chairman), Sanson, Bridge, Fry, Ross, Hurley, F. Pirani, M.H.R. It was decided to accept Mr J. H. Dillon's tender lor additions to the Marton school. Thp question of establishing an art school at Palmerston Nortb, as suggested by Mr Pirani, was considered. A loDg letter was read from Mr Blair explaining how the matter could be arranged at an additional expenditure of £Vdo a year. The Board decided to refer tbe question to the Executive for inquiry and report. The question of arranging M. de Mey's visits to tbe various schools was considered, and it was decided that he should liold a class for teachers in a centre and visit the schools around that centre duriug the following week. Some twelve centres to be established throughout the district. Committees to be asked to get the appliances necessary for the drill. Awahuri — Tank to be supplied, and carpenter to visit residence for repairs. Colyton — No funds to provide metal. Hiwinui — Illegal expenditure on prizes to be deducted from capitation, as Committee refused to refund it. Beef Creek and Rangiwahia —Mr Messi ter to be paid, and residents to be asked to fix boundaries of the two districts. Catholic Schools.— Mr Bridge moved, That as it has been thought fit to publish certain favorable reports on Catholic schools, the Press be allowed to publish all the reports on those schools. — Mr Sanson seconded the motion.— The Chairman moved, as an amendment, That no greater facilities be offered for publication than are given to the Board school reports. — Mr Pirani seconded the amendment — The amendment was carried by four to three, Messrs Carson, Pirani, Hurley aud Fry for, and Messrs Sanson, Bridge and Rev Ross against.
