I From Our Own Correspondent] A well attended meeting of the Carnar< von Cricket Club was held here on Satur> day evening in the Temperance Hall, Mr T. Askew occupying the chair. The minutes of the past meeting were read and confirmed. The total receipts last season amounted to £8 6s, and the expendituro was £7 16s 6d leaving a balance of 9s 6d with which to commence next sea* eon's operations. The following officers were elected -.--President, Mr W. G, Cooper ; vice-Presidents, Messrs J. Cos* tall, W. Davies, J. Glover, W. Taylor; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr C. H. Bowater (re-elected) ; General Committee, Messrs C. Costal!, T. Askew, S. Penny, T. Anyon, Allen Edwards, C. H. Bowater, H. Jarvis, H. Bishop, W. Brough. ton ; Match Committee, Messrs T. Askew, Bo water, Bishop, B. Edwards, Penny. The election of Captain was held -over until next meeting. It was resolved that the Cttib join the Union. It was decided to open the ensuing season on the second Saturday in October with a match Married v. Single. A vote of thanks to the chair closed the meeting. An instructive paper on Phrenology was read by Mr Drake at the Mutual last night. There was a large attendance. Mr Drake handled the subject in a very able manner, and by examining the heads of two members illustrated his subject. The factory is now running every daj, and as a few more settlers have taken up shares and are supplying the factory, c, very large output raav be expected thi§ snmmer.
