Francis Boss Dramatic Company.

The above Company appeared in the Assembly Booms before a fairly good house, the piece staged being the sensational drama " Queen's Evidence." After the disappointment on the previous visit of this company the audience was not quite so large as might otherwise have been expected, but the company have, by their clever acting last night, fully sustained the good reputation which they have gained in other towns. The production of " Queen's Evidence " here proved that the individual members of the Company are all capable artistes. Miss Frances Boss represented one of the characters, that of " Kate Medland," and her impersonation was superb. Mr F. Meymott, as ' Gilbert Medland ' acted his part carefully and well, while Mr H. Phillips was perfection in the character of " Matthew Thornton," the scoundrel whose treachery brought misery into the home of "Gilbert " and " Kate Medland." "Isaacs," the Jew (Mr G, Melville) was the amusing element of the drama, and he frequently created laughter with his funny style. Mr <J, Blake (as " Sir Frederick Sydney "), Mr W. Power (" Mr Wynford "), Mr Beg. Norman ("Joe," the ruffianly looking lock-keeper), Miss M. Medway ("Ada Smith "), Miss C. Tennyson (" Laura)," Miss S. Woodville. ("Arthur Sydney)," all filled their parts well. The company were well received by the audiencei who frequently applauded the performers. During the third act Mr C. Blake introduced the song, " Queen of the earth," and Mr C. Angus sang "My sweetheart,,' and " My pretty Jane."
