The New Fire Insurance Tariff.

(Per Press Association). "Wellington, Sept. 9. The effect on Wellington of the new fire insurance tariff fixod at the conference at Melbourne will mean a reduction on the whole in both town and country on existing rates, in some instances a substantial one. In other cases the rates will remain unchanged, and in a few instances there will be a slight increase on the pre sent rates. The principle is an absolutely uniform rate throughout the colony, in creased according to circumstances and conditions of locility — hazardous character of risks, nature of adjoining property etc. In suburbs and on what are regarded as non-hazardous blocks in town, the rates in every case will be reduced, probably on an average by 25 per cent. All offices in the colony are bound by the tariff, which comes into operation on October Ist. __________________
