(Per Press Association.) London, Sept. 6. Bank of England returns, published to-day, show total reserve to be £31,---856,000, the proportion of reserve of liabilities being 59,08 per cent. Three months' bills are discounted at | per cent. New Zealand mutton — First quality, 4d per lb ; second quality, 3|dNew Zealand defrosted beef — Hindquarters, 4i'd ; fore-quarters, '6\d. New Zealand hemp —Market is quiet. Thirteen bales of ordinary quality sold at i?l3 per ton. New Zealand long-berried wheat, exwarehouse, nominally, 25s 6d ; South Australian do., flat, 26s 6d ; Victorian do., restricted, 265. Svgar — German beet, 9s 7^d ; Java, steady, 11s 9d. Butter — Danish, 110s per cwt; Australian 90s to 965. Salesmen expect the average for coming season to be better than last year's, but it will rule low, as as English, Irish, and foreign, arc likely to be plentiful.
