Feilding Athletic Club.
The first annual general meeting of the FeilQing Athletic Club was held in the Assembly Rooms last evening. Present — Messrs W. A. Sandilands, H. L. Sher will (secretary), T. H.James, F. Y. Lethbridge, W. G. Haybittle, Pi Thomson, W A. L. Bailey^ B. Gosling, F. J. Knox, R. H. Whisker, G. Saywell, A. R. Allan, G. Kirton, G. Lethbridge, H. Woolven, M. Belfit, E. H. Fisher, S. Andrew, H. C. Gapper, G. W. Fowles, H. W. Davy, H. Bastings, £. A. Feck, E. Mills, A. C. Matheson, A. C. Carty, J. S. Milson, and W. Dixon. Mr Sandilands was voted to the chair. The balance-sheet was read for the year ending July 31st, 1895, showing a net balance in hand of £47 14s Bd. The balance-sheet of the last Sports Committee showed the receipts for the sports of 1894 were chiefly from nominations, .£2O 18s 6d ; acceptances, £37 14s ; main gate, £107 ; lawn, £51 17s 3d ; paddock booth, £13 5s ; lawn booth, £13 ; other sources, £12 10s ; making a total of £255 7s 3d. The chief items of expenditure were — prizes paid £156 15s ; bandioapper, £7 7s ; advertising and printing, £18 14s 6d ; band, £10; bonus secretary, £10 10s ; sundry expenses, £34 Is 4d ; total expenditure, £237 7s lOd, leaving a credit balance of £17 19s sd. The following gentlemen were proposed as members :— Messrs H. Woolven, E. A. Feck, G. W. Fowles, J. H. Mingins, H. C. Gapper, and F. Mackenzie. It was resolved that rule 4 be suspended to allow of these gentlemen to be elected that evening. Several other new members were nominated and will come up for election at the next meeting of the committee. The name, occupation, and address of a candidate with the name of his proposer and seconder must be handed in writing to the Secretary. The election of officers resulted as follows : —President, Mr W. A. L. Bailey, committee, Messrs Haybittle, Matheson, Gosling, Thomson, Fisher, Goodbehere, F. Y. Lethbridge, Sandilands, Kirton, Allan, Saywell, Mills, G. Letbbridge, H. Worsfold, Wm. Bailey, Whisker, J. Scott, W. Reid, and Woolven. It was resolved, on the motion of Mr Fisher, seconded by Mr Kirton, That two n embers of this Club be appointed to act with two members of the Cycling Club, and wait qn the Borcugh Council and apply for a subsidy of £ for £ towards putting the Oval in good order ; also, to point out the necessity of keep? ing thp cattle off the ground, Meows W. A. L. Bailey, F. Y. Lethbridge, and W. G. Haybittle were appointed trustees of the Club's property. Messrs Kirton and Andrews were appointed auditors for the ensuing year. Resolved, That Messrs F. Y. Lethbridge and Mills be appointed to represent this Club to confer with delegates from the Cycling Club as to improving racing track. This was all the business and the meeting adjourned. At the conclusion of the general meeting, a committee meeting was held, when Messrs F. Y. Lethbridge and W. A, Sandiiands were elected vice-presidents*; Mr Sherwill was ' appointed secretary at " a renumeration of ten guineas a year ; . Mr A. R. Allan was elected treasurer ; and it was decided to hold the sports on Boxing Day as usual.
