(Per Press Association.) New Plymouth, Sept. 3. Henry Hey wood, clerk to the Inglewood Town Board, has been arrested on a charge of embezzlement of several email amounts belonging to the Board. Chbistchuech, Sep. 3. A. B. Worthington, of the Students of Truth, has issued a writ against the " Sun" newspaper claiming .£2OO damages for alleged libel. Two other actions, one civil and one criminal, are being brought against the same paper on account of certain comments made by it with regard to the prohibitionists. The Secretary of the Christchurch Cycling Club has receiyed a letter stating that several prominent Australian ;riders will compete at the next meeting of the club. Waimate September 3. The Waimata branch of the New Zealand Workers' Union has passed a resolution disapproving of the action of the Government in bolstering up the Bank of New Zealand. The Minister of Labour was congratulated for introducing the Public Tenders Contract and Works Bill, which was considered to be legislation of a highly necessary character. Woodville, Sept. 3. Steps are being taken to raise a fund for the unemployed in the district, to provide them with temporary work. Napier, September 4. All the men suspected of complicity in the Frasertown robbery are now in custody. A Native named Hikipene Tuhi was arrested by Constable Coughlan, and Robert White, a half-caste, who escaped when being brought in on Saturday morning, gave himself up yesterday. The accused have been remanded for eight days. Since their arrest a large amount of property has been recovered. A gang has apparently been carrying on depredations for some time, as many settlers report property to be missing.
