OUR PUBLIC LIBRARY.
TO THE EDITOR OF THE STAR. Sir, — In reply to Querist in your issue of yesterday, I may tell him he need not go to the trouble of enquiring, from his friends who the members of the Committee of the Feilding Public Library are. If that notable personage would only exert himself a very little, and psruse the columns of your paper, he would find a faithful report of what business is transacted at each monthly meeting, also the names of the members present. But, who is Mr Querist ? Is he a ratepayer, or a subscriber, or does ho cast in his mite in any shape or form to that valuable institution, or is he one of the know-all individuals ? Now, just one word of advice to His Most Noble Highness. If, in future, Your Lordship has any suggestions to make, or any grievance to air against the workings of the present Committee, be a man and come face to face with that body, and not fly into print and try and throw mud in their eyes. In conclusion, for your information I may state that the Library is not '• run by a ring," but by men who are not afraid to say what they think, or to sign their names to what they write. A. R. Allan, Hod. Treasurer Feilding Library. Feildiug, September 3rd, 1895.
