Banking Affairs in New South Wales.
[ Per Press Association | Sydney, August 28. The Premier, Mr Reid, stated that the present Bank Notes Act would be allowed to expire in a few months. The two sivings banks would be amalgamated, and a scheme won Id be drafted during thQ recess, and provision made next session for a State note isssne in connection with the new institution con-jointly with other colonies It was then intended to deal comprehensively with banking legislation on lines approved by the late Banking Conference with a view to improve the position of the colony with borrowers. He hoped to obtain the sanction of the British Government to place colonial securities on a Trustee list.
